Veterinarians
Dr. Victor Dasaro is the medical director of NVH. With nearly twenty years of experience in veterinary medicine, he remains dedicated to the “old style” school of veterinary care. He enjoys interacting with pet owners and their companions. Dr. Dasaro has a special interest in ultrasound, avian, and exotic medicine as well as surgery.
Dr. Ellen Friedman has been co-owner of NVH since 1993. She has a special interest in geriatric feline practice, although she enjoys caring for her canine patients as well. She also enjoys pocket pet medicine and surgery. She has been married to Dr. Dasaro since 1979 and shares her house with three Labs, as well as mulitiple orange cats and a gray parrot.
Dr. Melissa Flanagan may look familiar! She worked at NVH for six years before she headed off to a veterinary school. She is happy to return to her veterinary roots. In her spare time, Dr. Flanagan enjoys reading and hiking with her dogs and her husband Johnny.
Dr. Erica Harlec graduated from Cornell University’s Veterinary school, and loves working in general practice. She has an interest in geriatric medicine and preventative care. Dr. Harlec enjoys rock climbing with her husband and their new rescue, an Australian cattle dog named Casey.
Newburgh Vet Management Staff
Gayle is our head coordinator and has worked at NVH since 1999. She really enjoys hand-on time with patients, especially during physical therapy sessions. Gayle received her Bachelor’s degree from SUNY Albany. When not at work, Gayle spends her time with her family and her menagerie of pets. She also likes karate, Harley Davidson motorcycles and writing.
Melissa has been part of the NVH team since May 2006 and is our primary outpatient coordinator. Her love of animals makes this an ideal job for her. Melissa shares her life with her husband, Jimmy, their German Shepherd Raine and their four cats, Joy, Angus, Sophie & Lou – E. Other than working, Melissa also enjoys hiking, camping and snowmobiling.
Mike has been part of the NVH team since August 2003 when he was hired as a kennel assistant. Since then, he has earned B.B.A. in Veterinary Technology Management from SUNY Delhi and now is a Manager at NVH. In the future he would like to pursue a Master’s degree in business.
Kristin has been part of the NVH team since November 2007. She has a B.S. from Mercy College in Behavioral Sciences and has over ten years of experience in the veterinary field. She is dedicated to keeping our social media sites current and responding to clients emails.
Dora is our bookkeeper and has been with us since 2006. She was lucky enough to get a job combining her bookkeeping skills and her love of animals. She shares her home with her husband and two daughters, as well as her black lab, Isa. When Dora isn’t working, she enjoys swimming, photography and watching her children play sports.
Fumi is our Veterinary Medicine Researcher who came from Japan and has been with us since May 2005. She earned her B.B.A. in Veterinary Technology Management from SUNY Delhi. Fumi’s numerous research projects are essential to our operations and helps us maintain a state of the art Veterinary Hospital. She has three cats; Lily, Pinky and Rilie.
Licensed Veterinary Technicians
Bonnie has been a part of our team since 2000. Her hobbies include dog training, kayaking, walking and traveling. Bonnie has six children, three grandchildren and numerous pets.
Christine has been with us since April 2013. She comes to NVH with over 20 years of experience. In her free time she enjoys hiking with her husband and 3 kids.
Kim moved here from Texas and majored in wildlife ecology at LSU. She joined the NVH team in February 2013. Kim enjoys hiking and biking and has 3 cats.
Jennifer has been with us since 2005. She graduated from Murray State College in Oklahoma with her Veterinary Technician Degree and has been working with animals since. When not working Jennifer enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters.
Reception Staff
Head Receptionist: Fran has been a part of our team since 2003. Besides working at NVH Fran owns an art business. She also wrote and illustrated a children’s book which was published in 2008. She has five cats, a chinchilla and a horse.
Veterinary Technician Assistants
Amber has been with NVH since July 2011. Amber will soon hit the books as she pursues her lifelong dream of becoming a licensed veterinary technician. She shares her life with 5 dogs (all rescues) and several rescued cats. In her spare time, Amber enjoys singing, playing piano, swimming and photography.
Erik joined NVH in June 2012 and has been in the Veterinary field for over six years. You may see him in reception, in rooms, in the resort, or in our New Paltz hospital since he is a jack of all trades. In his free time he enjoys watching movies,listening to music and spending time with his family.
David has been with us since August 2012. He is a Pre-Vet. major at Mercy and will soon be going off to Vet. school. When David isn’t studying or working at NVH he enjoys spending time with his 4 Newfoundlands.
Resort
Jen is our resort manager and has been with NVH since August 2012. She shares her life with Sadie, her rescued Austrailian Shepard, and Hodgie, her dressage horse. In her spare time she enjoys reading, going to the racetrack and training Standardbred racehorses.
Tami has been with us since February 2011. Tami enjoys spending time with her children and boyfriend. During her free time she likes making crafts. Tami is the proud owner of two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and a blue and gold macaw.
